TIGHR Constitution/Bylaws Updated 2012

The following amendments were approved October 2012 in Australia and have been incorporated in the above document.  The below is listed as explanation for the updates to inform future Boards and members.

The following motion made by Jo Franco, seconded by Anne Douglas: revising the Constitution to allow for online and postal votes was read -

Article VII Revision - Proposed Change to Constitution – Amend to read - This Constitution may be revised or amended by a majority of votes; online, postal, or of the members present at any scheduled meeting of the Membership. A proposed amendment to the Constitution must be published in the TIGHR newsletter, sixty days prior to a scheduled meeting of the Membership.

Failing that, the motion(s) will be published by Electronic Mail and by Regular Postal Letter to members without Electronic Mail, sixty days prior to a scheduled meeting of the membership.
APPROVED unanimously by a show of hands.

Motion made by Judith Stephens, seconded by Jo Franco, regarding the term for payment of dues.
Article III Membership – 4 Dues: Amend this article to read -
The term of dues payment, Annual or a one-time payment for a 3-year period, shall be at the discretion of the incoming board.

(Note: The Australian Board chose the latter for the period 2009-12 to make it easier for members to avoid having to deal with currency conversion more than one time.)
LindaRae Coughlin asked how this one-time payment would affect a new member who joined toward the end of the three-year period.

It was explained that there would be no pro-rating of the dues, as new members would receive all the benefits of the full three-year membership i.e. all Collectors Cards for that period would be mailed to them and all of the Hooking Matters newsletters would be available on the website.

A Vote was taken and passed unanimously by a show of hands.
